"Fill the government with barbarians, you get barbaric government."
Those words provided the headline to the
newspaper column written on October 11 by George Will, one of America’s preeminent conservative voices. Will was eviscerating Defense Secretary Hegseth’s brutal proposal for a televised showing of the execution by firing squad of a convicted killer. "The voice of a true conservative," that is, by the traditional definition of that term. NOT, in other words, the lying, demagogic phony “conservatives” marching under Trump’s soiled banner. The know-nothing Trumpist “conservatives” usually include the following Republican U.S. Representatives from Georgia and their staffers:
Representative Chief of Staff Legislative Dir. Scheduler
Earl Carter Chris Crawford Connor Mills Liles Wall
Brian Jack Alex Stone Anna Stietentoth Rachel Salle
Rich McCormick Philip Singleton Max Berry Madison Sedwick
Austin Scott Alice Johnson McKensie Dallas Jackie Van Slambrook
Andrew Clyde Nicholas Brown Chase Starr Taylor Hawkins
Barry Loudermilk Robert Adkerson Ashleigh Padgett Kayla Davidson
Rick Allen Lauren Hodge Cam Shepherd Lucie Simons
Clayton Fuller Spencer Hogg (?) Jason Murphy Ashlyn Lands
In this case, however, Rep. Austin Scott sided with Will, saying that “live-streaming executions is what jihadists do. America is better than that.” My research uncovered no other Georgia Republican dissenter from Hegseth’s proposal for a public execution. The rest remain in the barbarian category.
