“House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the entire Democratic leadership on Monday condemned Rep. Ilhan Omar for suggesting that Israel’s allies in American politics were motivated by money rather than principle, an extraordinary rebuke of a House freshman in the vanguard of the party’s left flank.”
“President Trump called on Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) to resign on Feb. 12, after she was criticized for making anti-Semitic remarks. ”
The hypocrisy Republicans have shown in dealing with this issue staggers the human mind. Where was the Republican outrage when Trump voiced his praise for neo-Nazi demonstrators in Charlottesville? More to the point: where, to this day, is any official Republican rebuke of Trump’s remarks? Where is the Congressional resolution? The official press release by the Republican National Committee? How many Republicans posted any criticism on their web pages? Facebook? Instagram? Tweets?
Any Congressional action regarding Omar without commensurate action regarding Trump’s praise of the neo-Nazis would not only be an act of monumental hypocrisy—it would reveal a bias and prejudice that proved everything Omar said about Israel’s influence on U.S. politics.
