David Perdue Takes on Brian Kemp in GA Governor Primary

Former Senator David Perdue announced on December 6 that he was running in the 2022 Republican primary against Georgia incumbent governor Brian Kemp. The race pits Perdue, an out and out Donald Trump lap dog, against a GOP governor that has occasionally distanced himself from the former President. Trump is particularly livid that Kemp refused to go along with his effort to subvert the 2020 presidential election outcome by engaging in criminal acts to misappropriate Georgia’s legally certified electoral vote in favor of Joe Biden. Trump’s endorsement of Perdue for governor ensured the defeated Senator would enter the race and likely gives him an advantage over Kemp among Republican voters.

Trump in a phone call after the November elections also pressed Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to “find the votes” needed to throw the electoral votes to Trump. Reffensperger also incurred Trump’s wrath by refusing and faces a Trump-endorsed lackey in the Republican primary for the SECSTATE office.

By running as a Trump stooge, Perdue has embraced Trump’s Big Lie that massive voter fraud is responsible for his loss, together with the Republican effort to place Trump’s puppets in key state positions throughout the country who will conspire to use illegal and quasi-legal means to override any popular vote against Trump in the 2024 presidential election and throw the electoral vote to Trump. Perdue is also firmly on board Trump’s racist, pro-white supremacist, xenophobic, misogynist agenda, that includes incitement to violence. The agenda already being aggressively asserted by one of Trump’s other Georgia lackeys, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.
